5th Street Station

5th Street Station is a retail center that shimmers on a hill above the primary artery of 5th Street from I-64 to downtown. Opened in 2015, it is the newest shopping center in Charlottesville. A convenient thruway connects 5th Street to Avon Street beside and directly thru the retail center. Most importantly, however, 5th Street Station is home base for Wegmans, the mega-specialty grocer phenomenon.

Nearby, within an ocean of parking, are other high-utility big box stores like Field and Stream, and Dick’s  Sporting Goods. As important as Wegmans, however, is the evolution of the center as a restaurant capital.
