Before a big move around the corner to 600 Concord Avenue, Ace Biscuit and Barbecue told a fine story about its formation, like this:

In 1988, twelve-year old Brian Ashworth wandered off JP Burley Middle School grounds to clear his head. Crossing Rose Hill Drive against school rules, he walked down to Henry Avenue. Only getting two blocks, he saw Dotties Cafe. The place was small but bustling! In went Ashworth. Being greeted by Dottie made him feel welcome. All the way through high school at Murray, young Brian would frequent Dotties for sandwiches. Two decades later Brian Ashworth opened Ace Biscuit & Barbecue, bringing back to the Rose Hill neighborhood what it once had: a restaurant that prepares and serves food with love.

Brian moved just across the railroad tracks onto an artery of Charlottesville machine works, and opened a bigger, better Ace. By early 2023, however, Brian had begun looking beyond his hometown neighborhood, before… Voila! …a loving fan and local entrepreneur, Stefan Friedman, stepped in to keep some of the best barbecue in town alive and well.

Ace Biscuit and Barbecue is a humble restaurant with all-day breakfast biscuit sandwiches and BBQ, plus local beer and from-scratch sauces. Serving breakfast and lunch specials, Ace offers an authentic taste of southern cooking. Ace also caters large quantities for special events with Breakfast and lunch and catering EVERYDAY!
