Pizza Restaurants

Pizza Restaurants in Charlottesville have had a long an glorious history.

Beginning with the “first food wave” of the 1970s, this genre defined Italian cuisine similar to how Greek restaurants introduced new spices into standard American fare. Pizza Restaurants proliferated across town.

Of course, it’s helpful that Pizza is a fundamental staple on the college student menu, ensuring an eternal popularity in this college town.

In the late 1990s a fellow named Christian Tamm brought a pizza revolution to Charlottesville. Lines were long. His stores proliferated. And Charlottesville enjoyed a belle epoch of delicious pie.

What followed was an expansion of pizza styles, from Neapolitan to New York, from Sicilian to Detroit. Today Charlottesville’s in a golden age of pizza!
