Hark Vineyards burst onto the Charlottesville wine scene in 2015 when Candice and Aaron Hark acquired 80 acres of quintessential Albemarle farmland and quickly put 20 acres under vine. “We knew the soil, the area, and the aspect,” says Aaron. “This would be an ideal place to grow grapes and make memories.” Under the direction of acclaimed winemaker Jake Busching, they have focused on producing small-batch estate wines in their 8,500 square-foot production facility. The pandemic necessitated tasting operations be moved outdoors in the Spring of 2020, and they haven’t looked back. “In some respects, Hark Vineyards is like a big tailgate,” Aaron continues. “Our experience is family-friendly and true to what it means to be a farm winery. We’re a place where you can enjoy great authentic wines, grown on the vines that you are picnicking between, and the rows your kids are running races down!”
Hark Vineyards is open Fridays and Sundays 12-6, and Saturdays 12-sunset. Most Saturdays feature live music and food trucks. Check their website and social media for the most up-to-date schedule.
