Hark Vineyard burst onto the Charlottesville wine scene in 2015 when Candice and Aaron Hark acquired 80 acres of quintessential Albemarle farmland and quickly put 20-acres under vine. “We knew the soil, the area, and the aspect,” says Aaron. “This is our place.” Under the direction of acclaimed winemaker Jake Busching, they have methodically grown Chardonnay, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Petit Manseng, Cabernet Franc and several additional estate-grown varietals alongside an impressive 8,500 square-foot production facility. They will break ground on a roadside tasting room this summer.
“In some respects, Hark Vineyard is like a big, open tailgate,” Aaron continues. “Our experience is family-friendly. We hope to be a place where you can try delightful wines, where you can picnic in the vines and kids can run.”
