A beautiful winery midway between Barboursville and Gordonsville, Horton Vineyards is considered to be one of the most innovative in the country. Currently in its third generation of ownership, Horton was the first to plan Viognier grapes in the region. Other premiere grape varietials from Southern France, Portugal, Spain and Russia are cultivated at Horton, and today the winery produces over 50 different wines. Through the success of the vineyard’s grapes, Horton perpetuates our understanding of Central Virginia’s unique terroir. The stunning stone underground cellars, views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and a wonderful, if dated, vaulted-ceiling tasting room make Horton Vineyards a unique site.
