The Bavarian Chef
The Bavarian Chef is a 50+ year masterpiece of the German culinary tradition, led by 2nd-generation Chef Jerome Thalwitz who is carrying on his parents’ tradition. Opened in 1974, the Bavarian Chef quickly became a local favorite, renowned for its outstanding food, warm hospitality, and memorable Old-Country atmosphere that you’ll still find today. Generous family-style sides of red cabbage, creamed corn and Spatzle accompany Steak au Poivre, Schnitzel, or Sauerbraten. Keep an eye out for the dessert tray; it will inspire you to save room for an Apfelstrudel, Sacher torte or Bavarian nut ball if you can!
Known throughout the United States, and even internationally, the Bavarian Chef has garnered acclaim from magazines such as Bon Appetit, and it continues to be featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Virginian-Pilot as a top-rated German restaurant.
