Mejicali Bar

Mejicali Bar is Charlottesville’s newest bar and music venue. Mejicali Bar is also a collaboration of two of Charlottesville’s strongest restaurant talents.  River Hawkins, The Bebedero’s famed artist and mezcal expert, and Johnny Ornales from Charlottesville’s first-family of Mexican restaurants and the creator of El Mariachi, have combined to create what food critic Simon Davidson calls “an explosion of colors celebrating  Hawkins’ heritage.”  In a town with several artful and highly-curated restaurant interiors, Mejicali Bar sets a new standard! A combination of murals, neon signs, original posters and screens tells an edgy story about the joy and tension of Mexican-American fusion.

Mejicali’s atmosphere reminds you of an exotic and sunny coast with a large outdoor patio, where families can roam and music plays.
