Oliva especially stands out in Virginia’s wine country because olive oil is best fresh, cold-pressed, and enjoyed within a year or two of the crush date. All of Oliva’s oils are rotated with each harvest season to guarantee freshness and ensure every bottle is optimized for divine consumption. Oliva’s owner, UVA alumna Mallory Artusio, knows the name of the olive grove where the olives were grown, the date they were harvested, and the unique flavor profile of every oil. She also personally trains her staff to share in her love and knowledge of olive oil.

Samples are available daily in-store, and private and public tasting events are scheduled quarterly (call ahead to book a reservation or an event). They carry traditional, authentic quality balsamic vinegar from Modena, Italy as well. Since both olive oil and balsamics must be kept shielded from light and air, they house the oils and balsamic in smaller Fusti tanks, each individually labeled, which allows for a delightful stroll through the store.
