Named for the 1949 collection of short stories by William Faulkner, who once lived here, Knight’s Gambit is easily our most literary vineyard. Vineyard owner Paul Summers, Faulkner’s grandson, manages his operation with family TLC and has created a unique venue to enjoy estate wine. Located west of town out Garth Road towards White Hall, an experience to Knight’s Gambit includes a cottage-style tasting room, porch and grounds, shaded by oaks and frequented by horses and sunsets over its rolling landscape are as spectacular as you’ll find anywhere in Albemarle. Live music on weekends occurs frequently, and a guest house is available for those wishes to overnight.
