Anchoring the east end of the Downtown Mall, the Ting Pavilion hosts many of Charlottesville’s hottest music shows. With a capacity of 3,500, this venue combines the best of both indoors and outdoors. The pavilion itself is an enormous kevlar expanse, battened tight to steel beams, allowing sound to rise and run throughout the gigantic space. The sight lines are endless as the concrete floor gradually falls from the top roughly 200 feet to the stage which is itself just 6-feet above. It’s an ocean of space that allows for freedom of movement by concert-goers. Lawn spaces invite picnicking and hacky sack, while nearby beer and food trucks offer lubricants to sate the crowds. Managed by Coran Capshaw’s Starr Hill Presents, the Ting Pavilion is a premier music venue that hosts big-time national acts as well as time-honored community shows like Fridays after Five.
