Petit Pois is a great spot to try Charlottesville’s twist on French cuisine. Serving brunch, lunch, dinner, and dessert, Petit Pois, the sister restaurant to Fleurie, is a reliable and elevated experience and some of the best en plein air dining in town.
Their outdoor dining space, with it’s hedge of planters, secrets patrons in the very center of Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall behind the splash of the Central Place fountain. Where outdoor dining has many fine options, Petit Pois’ patio is one of our favorites! The indoor space is intimate and close to the kitchen action. It seats no more than 20-25.
A sandwich board in front of their Central Place location daily and wistfully announces their specialities. Local farmers, green vendors, and artisans supply all of the food, making the meals remarkably delicious and wholesome. In particular, their lobster bisque has a perfectly rounded flavor to be prayerfully savored, while their Coq au Vin also delivers a balance of simplicity and elegance you will not soon forget. An interesting and well-chosen wine list complements Petit Pois’ diverse dishes and polite service.
