Part of a late-90’s Renaissance as envisioned by legendary developer Gabe Silverman, the Main Street Market transformed the western end of Main, or the eastern in of West Main, to become a magnet for all that is hip, organic, and posh about the New Charlottesville. A past-prime industrial space became transformed into a zocalo of fresh produce, seafoods, meats, baked goods, gourmet coffee and dining. The most satisfying visits to Charlottesville include a stop at the Main Street Market for some or all of the above. It’s a pleasant place to linger, or stop-and-go as you move further along Charlottesville modernized West Main Street, the connector between The University and The Downtown Mall.
For gourmet deli to dine-in or take-out, Feast! anchors Main Street Market.
For fresh coffee and baked-goods, we recommend the original Albemarle Baking Company.
